Honor 8A: Budget Phone With Good Looks [Unboxing]

Honor 8A is an entry-level smartphone targeted at users on a budget. It is powered by the mid-tier Helio P35 chipset and a decent primary camera. The RAM capacity is only 2GB on this variant, which is low for a phone that costs Rs. 20,000.
The blue box opens up to the phone right on top. Underneath is an envelope with a generic gel case, a SIM ejection tool, and the usual paperwork.

The bottom compartment holds a 5W charger, a microUSB cable and a pair of earbuds.
The front of the 8A sports a 6.09-inch 720p display panel, with a pretty good screen to body ratio (79%) for a budget smartphone. The bottom bezel housing the Honor brand name is quite thick compared and the top has a small waterdrop notch for the selfie camera.

Moving over to the back, there is a unique two-tone design, which is a combination of glossy and frosted glass. The glossy section is prone to fingerprints and dust, so putting a back cover on is highly recommended. The fingerprint sensor is adequately fast for the price range.

At the bottom, there is a microUSB port, a dual speaker grille, and a mic. The power and volume buttons are on the right side, while the SIM card tray is on the left. At the top, it has a secondary noise cancellation mic and a 3.55mm audio jack.
User Interface

The phone boots with EMUI 9 on top of Android Pie, so there are plenty of features and gestures you normally don’t find in pure Android. Multitasking and app opening speeds are pretty decent, considering it is only a budget smartphone.

Moving over to the battery, it has a 3020 mAh unit which seems small but should be adequate for this phone considering its low-resolution display and internals.
